When you have run a podcast for 13 years like Danny Pena has and you're still making history, then you know you've made it. We welcome the brainchild and host of Gamertag Radio to discuss his beginnings when podcasting was barely a blip on the radar, plus the documentary that chronicles his struggles and triumphs.

Before celebrating all things Gamertag Radio, we hop into the news starting off with the release of Burnout Paradise and Vanquish to more contemporary consoles. We then get topical regarding the gun reform movement and how the discussion on violent video games has been dredged up from decades past. Then join us for a discussion on how online only games should be preserved.

The Stage of History this week welcomes the sword-spinning Kid Niki: Radical Ninja, and the street-brawling Final Fight. Robert then takes off with Sparkster in Obscura. Don't forget to grab our giveaway codes for Super Rude Bear Resurrection and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II, and then join us for another round of Random Select. This time Robert is showing no mercy!

If there's one game franchise that truly inspires with its music, it's Jet Set Radio. David welcomes back music artist 2 Mello to discuss the music from Sega's popular series, and how it prompted him to make his own original album in the same vein.

This conversation also doubles as a musical journey of the Jet Set Radio franchise and Mello's own album Memories of Tokyo-To: An Ode to Jet Set Radio. Join us as we admire the work of composer Hideki Naganuma, and what Mello's experience with the man has been like so far.

Also be sure to check out 2 Mello on ARGcast #68 where he talked about his Streets of Rage mashup album, and listen to his other music including the soundtrack to Read Only Memories and the smash hit mashup Chrono Jigga.

We talk about romance... and everything in retro gaming! Join us along with special guests Nick Shively of MMOGames and his wife (and everything) Lori Dierinzo as we dive into our favorite love stories and couples in gaming history. You'll pick up on the inside joke (and everything) soon enough!

We first hit the news where we have a followup from Billy Mitchell on the Donkey Kong high score scandal that is rocking the retro gaming landscape currently. Then there are some cool new retro related products that have hit the crowdfunding circuit including the micro-sized PocketSprite, the long (not-so-)awaited N64 port of 40 Winks, and brand new Genesis platformer Tanglewood.

In this week's Stage of History, we cover the gamut of love stories from the romantic love triangle in Final Fantasy VIII to the hard-boiled tragedy that is Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. Robert then welcomes the most obscure title to hit Obscura - the PS2 pucker-upper Chulip! Be sure to also grab our game code giveaways, and stay awhile longer for another game of Random Select. This one truly takes our contestants to the brink!

Seek a higher power, ARGonauts! We welcome our very special guest Eric Bailey AKA "Nintendo Legend" to discuss a couple of things near and dear to his heart - video games and religion! Learn how uptight Nintendo was in having no Christian themes in ALMOST all games on its platforms. All faiths point to the Triforce!

Before we test our faith, we hit the news with big revelations, such as the mystery of Toad's debunked by Nintendo, and King of Kong villain Billy Mitchell having his high scores put to question. We also take a look at a really fun new Doom mod that Overwatch fans will definitely want to check out.

In this week's Stage of History, we break bread with Wisdom Tree's title that almost became Hellraiser (for real) Super 3D Noah's Ark, as well as the over-the-top violent franchise-starter God of War. Robert then gets Biblical with the Hell-touring title Dante's Inferno in Obscura. Pray that you're the first to grab our game code giveaways, then test your gaming faith in another round of Random Select.

Time to hit the Turbo Tunnel, ARGonauts! We are looking back at one of our all time favorite franchises in this episode - Battletoads! We go from the 1991 NES game's memorable release to the 1994 gorefest that was the arcade game, and beyond with the recent cameo appearances by the slimy trio. Plus David and Robert ponder what a brand new Battletoads game would look like today. We can only hope!

Before we start the lovefest, we break down the latest retro gaming news including discovery of a lost Donkey Kong music game for the Famicom! That's followed by some controversial topics regarding the longstanding Dragster world record, and also Nolan Bushnell's rescinding of a GDC award.

The Stage of History hits hard this week with the additions of the ultimate teamup Battletoads & Double Dragon, and the "decapithon" that is Battletoads Arcade! Robert keeps the momentum going afterwards with Battletoads in Battlemaniacs in Obscura. You also won't want to miss out on game code giveaways for Nongunz and Wulverblade. We take care of the news before hitting the field which includes Duke Nukem movie rumors with John Cena attached, and Kodi getting into tricky legalities with adding a retro gaming service.

We also discuss Retro-Bit releasing something to please R-Type and Holy Diver fans, and Konami appeasing the retro crowd with some Contra and Castlevania love on the Nintendo Switch.

The Stage of History keeps in theme with Joe's game where we talk about a couple of NES RPGs - Faxanadu and Crystalis. In what could be considered the Video Game Awards on a much smaller scale, the Bit Awards aims to celebrate video games and the people who make them with a focus on the indie scene. David joins in the festivities to chat with honoree and legendary game designer Warren Spector, Yi and the Thousand Moons creator David Su, and Game of the Year winner (and friend of the show) Bill Gardner.

While speaking with Warren Spector, David digs deep with some burning questions on his involvement with System Shock 3, working on a Half-Life game when Valve still cared for the franchise, and his original interest to be a movie critic!

David and Dominique created something that both looks and sounds beautiful with Yi and the Thousand Moons. Learn what this unique experience is all about, as well as their own experiences playing music games.

Finally, David catches up with Bill not long after winning Game of the Year for Perception. Find out what was racing through his head accepting the award from one of his main idols in the industry, and also his kids chime in on their dad taking home the top prize of the night!

It's the end of the year, ARGonauts! That means it's time for us to look back at everything that happened and was released in 2017. Our good buddy Tony Polanco joins us to reflect on what ended up being a great year for game releases, and a huge year overall for the future of the gaming industry.

Before kicking things off, Robert breaks some interesting news on what could be the return of classic Sega consoles for the modern gamer. Being the holiday season, we also have TWICE the amount of game codes to give away including Psychonauts and A Hat in Time.

The last Stage of History of 2017 welcomes in the start of a franchise with Duke Nukem (not 3D), as well as one of the best selling games of all time Wii Sports. Robert then brings to light The Mummy Demastered in Obscura that is worth your attention. We then end the show with a quick game of Random Select. Who knew one of the people that brought you such titillating titles such as Duke Nukem would be trying to make you use your brain for more constructive uses? That's what Apogee and 3D Realms co-founder Scott Miller is trying to do with his brain supplement GodMode!

Join David on a chat with Scott about the latter's esteemed career that has brought to life a number of hard-hitting games such as Duke Nukem, Max Payne, Prey, and many more. There may be some things about some of your favorite titles you never knew about, such as what would have been in store for the Max Payne franchise had 3D Realms held control of it. Oh, the potentially awesome possibilities!

After taking a trip down memory, we boost our brain power talking about Scott's new aptly named supplement GodMode. What prompted Scott to get into this line of business? Could it be something used in the modern esports scene? Is it intended for more than just gamers looking to get a brain boost? We answer all of it.

Things get weird as we welcome guests Andre Tipton and Chase (just Chase!) from Twitch to chat about the strangest and rarest games to be released on the Sega Dreamcast. What better way to celebrate an oddball number for an anniversary than with some oddball games?

We start off with some news on a Doom modder making a statement by adding loot boxes in the classic shooter. Then join us in awe at the custom made Cuphead arcade cabinet, and in puzzlement at the VR sequel to Desert Bus. I bet Penn & Teller didn't expect that one!

The Stage of History this week kicks off strange Dreamcast titles with Seaman (starring none other than Leonard Nimoy), and Capcom all star shooter Cannon Spike. Robert then finds his rhythm with the musical rail shooter Rez in Obscura.

Not only do we celebrate the lesser mentioned Dreamcast titles, but Chase also shares with us a bunch of awesome stories from his time working on titles all throughout the console's lifespan. Plus we have plenty of listener responses from you guys, game codes to giveaway, and another game of Random Select! Who could David be this week?

The GameStop PowerPass program sounds like a sweet deal for consumers, as well as an intriguing turn for the company into the world of video game rentals. What does this mean for game developers, though? Could this potentially effect their livelihood? Former BioShock developer and Perception creator Bill Gardner chats with David in this special "mini" episode to discuss.

As described by the GamesRadar article below: "For $60, PowerPass will grant you a 6-month, all-you-can-play ticket to GameStop's pre-owned stock of games. You'll take one pre-owned game home, play it as much (or as little) as you like, then swap it for another. There's no limit to how many games you can effectively 'rent' using PowerPass, but you can only take one one home at a time. When the 6 months are up, you can choose to keep one of the games."

But Bill has some concerns with what this could mean for developers and publishers who have no say and see no profit in this program. The preowned games market alright cuts into revenue of the game creators, but could this be the Mario that breaks the Yoshi's back? Let us know what you think!

GameStop is introducing a 6-month binge program called Power Pass - here's how it works

Ready to get controversial, ARGonauts? We bring our friend HipHopGamer of HOT97 who is no stranger to controversy himself. Join us for a discussion on games such as Mortal Kombat, Doom, Leisure Suit Larry, Custer's Revenge, and other titles that would upset your mom. HipHop also gets into the recent bit of controversy he's recently been embroiled with involving the latest trailer for The Last of Us Part II.

We kick things off with the stunning (or not so stunning) news that Telltale Games has released a quarter of their workforce. This is followed by talk on Amazon opening up a retro gaming portal on their site, as well as Overwatch skins based on classic Blizzard franchises.

The Stage of History this week welcomes some controversial titles including the screaming good time that is Death Race, and one of the only games that allows you to pee on people Postal 2. Robert keeps it creepy with the ultra violent Chiller in Obscura. There's also more game codes to win, this time for Raiden V and (say it with me now) Doomwheel!

The future is now, ARGonauts! We welcome Sam Dyer of Bitmap Books on the show to give an audio companion with his new book Neo Geo: A Visual History talking about the console family under the brand name, favorite games from these platforms, and whether or not Nintendo stole the idea for the Nintendo Switch right under SNK's nose.

We leave the news section for the end, but expect discussions on Housemarque sadly moving away from arcade style games, Nintendo's billion reasons to keep supporting the Switch, and PlayStation's showing during Paris Games Week. Oh, and the controversy swirling around "hard-hitting" trailers? That's covered too.

The Stage of History this week keeps with the Neo Geo theme by welcoming war shooter NAM-1975, and chibi fighter SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millenium. Robert then busts loose with old school manga turned game 8 Man in Obscura. Don't miss out on our game giveaways (as well as our iTunes review game giveaway!)

Time to hit those bumpers, ARGonauts! We're diving into our long awaited pinball episode this week with Zen Studios VP of publishing Mel Kirk. Not only do we share our own favorite tables, but also yours with listener responses! We also get into what Zen Studios is doing to make virtual pinball work, as well as some hints on what to expect in the future.

After all the pinball talk, we also have some interviews for your listening pleasure. Join David at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo speaking with Guinness world record holder Michael Thomasson, video game box artist Marc Ericksen (including a candid story on the Mega Man 2 cover), and others! We then join Robert as he has a chat with some of the people working on Star Wars Battlefront II, including one of the cowriters.

There were so many news items to get to this week that we split it up! We first get into Amazon selling an exclusive SNES edition of the Nintendo 3DS, the Analogue Super Nt having an "exclusive game" of their own to compete with the SNES Classic, and 13 OG Xbox games that got the enhanced treatment for Xbox One. Later in the episode, we discuss the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles returning to arcades, an adapter that allows GameCube controllers to work on the Nintendo Switch, and Samba de Amigo's director making clear his desire to return to the music franchise.

The Stage of History welcomes some portable pinball titles in Sonic Spinball and Kirby's Pinball Land, then Robert welcomes a couple more (Space Cadet and Devil's Crush) in Obscura. Then, of course, we have our game giveaways. Grab 'em while they're still hot!

Being Halloween time it's only proper we get our spook on with the franchise that started the survival horror genre - Resident Evil! David and Robert take a look through Capcom's scary good franchise which includes games, movies, and even a restaurant. Where's our Nemesis Burger?

Before we get to the frights, we have a horde of news that would make a gang of zombies blush! First is the news that Dead Space developer Visceral Games is shut down after working on their Star Wars title for 4 years. That's followed by what could possibly be an SNES Classic killer, tiny arcades done right, a point and click adventure collection worth owning, Star Ocean making the splash to PC, and finally the return of egg-shaped babysitting with Tamagotchi celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The Stage of History sets the tone with jurassic jump scares in Dino Crisis, as well as Leon Kennedy's epic return in Resident Evil 4. Robert then redirects us down to the pits of hell in Obscura with a look at Dante's Inferno. Stay tuned for an idea how a pinball RPG works as David interviews the developer of Pinball Invaders. Finally there's our game giveaways, so snatch them up before Wesker does!
