We go West, ARGonauts! We welcome back Twitch streamer and Seattleite Justin Brunelle to talk about all the games and events we're excited for during the jam-packed PAX West weekend. There's plenty to unpack including street fighting, demon slaying, and... goosing? Also, John Madden somehow gets mixed into all this. You'll just have to listen to find out!

Before we gush about PAX West, we start the news on a somber note with the Jacksonville Madden tournament shooting that rocked the gaming community. That's followed by the reveal of Streets of Rage 4 and Onimusha: Warlords, then Pokemon becoming the highest grossing media franchise ever. We wind things down with Haunted Halloween '86 coming to Xbox One followed by a trailer for a Chrono Trigger sequel we don't deserve. Oh, the heartbreak!

The Stage of History this week welcomes beat 'em up classic Streets of Rage 2 and cyberpunk RPG Shadowrun. Robert then unleashes his symbiote with Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage in Obscura. Don't forget to grab our game codes, then stick with us for another round of Random Select! Who could Robert be this time?

See you at PAX West!

Tune in for a special episode CHOCK FULL of interviews from RTX, Play NYC, and Quakecon with the likes of Troy Baker, Jessica Nigri, Meg Turney, and more!

Welcome to our interview extravaganza! It's almost like a clip show for podcasts, but better! David and Robert share interviews they had with a variety of awesome folks from not one, not two, but THREE different conventions! Join us at RTX where Robert speaks with cosplayers Jessica Nigri and Meg Turney, waxes philosophy with voice actor Troy Baker, and more. Then David goes to Play NYC where he speaks with a number of young game developers about their latest and greatest projects. Then we go back to Robert at QuakeCon where he speaks with Bethesda's Pete Hines, as well as developers for Doom Eternal and Rage 2.

Before getting to the interviews, we tackle the latest retro gaming related news. We first look over a canceled 1994 game that's finally seeing the light of day, followed by Windjammers 2 and Saints Row: The Third coming to Nintendo Switch. Then we check out the new Sega Genesis and Sega Saturn controllers coming out for modern consoles by Retro-Bit, and the new trailer for Shenmue 3 that finally gives us a release date. We also discuss a retrospective on GoldenEye 007 that revealed the development team considered Oddjob to be a cheap character and that they almost didn't include multiplayer!

Our usual segments are left out to make room in this already beefy episode, but stay tuned next week for our usual format. Until then, keep it retro!

Before getting our glam on, we tackle the news on Diablo III rumored (and since confirmed) for Switch, THQ Nordic possibly bringing back the Timesplitters franchise, Doom Eternal giving us a first taste of gameplay, and ROMs site EmuParadise closing its doors. That's followed by a behind the scenes story on Sega impressing Nintendo with F-Zero GX, a mockup image for a new Def Jam game making the rounds online, and The Messenger getting a release date that has ninja fans excited!

The Stage of History welcomes some sharp-dressed characters with Devil May Cry and Hitman: Blood Money, then Robert keeps the fashion train rolling with Space Channel 5 in Obscura. All you need in life some times is to run to the right and blast everything in sight. At least that's what we know makes the Contra franchise so great! David and Robert look back on all things Contra (from the good to the oh so bad), define what it means to be a Contra game, and what we would hope to see in a modern day revival. Plus we read responses from listeners like YOU!

Before spreadshotting our way to victory, we tackle a number of news items from this past week including the love letter to Castlevania in the upcoming Super Smash Bros Ultimate. There's also some media news with updates on the Showtime Halo series and Metal Gear Solid movie, major cameos announcements for the current lineup of fighting games, a long lost South Park game for Game Boy Color that recently leaked, and what Sega has in store for the 30th anniversary of Altered Beast. Be sure to stick around the end of the show for the story on an Earthbound cartridge that was truly out of this world!

The Stage of History puts us in that Contra mood with Contra III: The Alien Wars and Contra: Hard Corps. Robert then reminds us of the download only Wii title Contra: ReBirth in Obscura. Don't forget to also grab our game code giveaways for Evergarden and Pankapu!

Gaming... gaming never changes... well, unless you're the Fallout franchise! We welcome Taylor Lyles on the show this week to chat about the Fallout franchise, how much it has changed over the years, and our favorite memories from the games. We even read over memories from listeners like YOU!

In the news this week, we discuss the second season trailer release for the Netflix Castlevania series, Crash Bandicoot getting his own super limited Nintendo Switch, and what it could mean with Valve rehiring the co-writer for Portal 2. Near the end of the show, we hit more news on the possible return of Def Jam in gaming, and the implications of the NES Classic becoming the best selling console of June.

The Stage of History welcomes a couple of post-apocalyptic classics with Wasteland and Fallout 3, then Robert looks back on Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel in Obscura. We also have game giveaways you'll want to pick up on, and then finally another round of Random Select. Who could Robert be this time?
