What does it mean for a video game to be "perfect"? Is perfection even a thing? We are joined by special guest John AKA Mister Megative from the SDGC podcast to explore what could be considered "perfect" video games according to our arbitrary rules. We also have a butt load of listener responses on this very topic!

Before kicking things off with our main topic, we run through the news which includes rumors of the Wave Race franchise making a splash on Nintendo Switch, and a fan project that mashes together the worlds of Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. We also discuss a blind speedrun of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out someone recently completed, and other equally impressive feats.

The Stage of History this week has us bring up some of the highly rated games in history with the controversial Grand Theft Auto III and the controversial for a different reason Metroid Prime. Robert then reminds us all of the cult favorite Alice: Madness Returns in Obscura. Don't forget to grab our game giveaways for Evil Glitch and Warhammer: Vermintide 2, then join us for another game of Random Select! Who could David be this time?

Our ARGcast news sections as of late has been leading up to this. Billy Mitchell has had his high scores taken down, and is banned from submitting more in the future. Where does that leave Billy and Twin Galaxies? David catches up with Twin Galaxies head of editorial Jesse Collins and the writer who broke the story Alex McCumbers to discuss.

Join us as we get into what went into reporting the story under the Twin Galaxies name, and the tricky balance that TG editorial had to play with the situation. There's also talk about Walter Day, Steve Wiebe, the mainstream media's reaction, and what is being done to ensure high score credibility is maintained. How will Billy Mitchell be remembered? Let us know!

Thank you to Jesse and Alex for joining me in this discussion! Be sure to check out their work on TwinGalaxies.com.

When looking back on console releases in history, few are bypassed more than the TurboGrafx-16 (and its little buddy the PC Engine). Our buddy Andre Tipton comes back on to share with us his expertise on Hudson Soft's firecracker of a run in the console race during the '80s and '90s.

Before Andre's lovefest on all things TurboGrafx and PC Engine, we dive into what ended being a busy news week in the world of retro gaming! The first two Shenmue games are finally getting a re-release, Sega could potentially bring back Saturn and Dreamcast titles, a new 2D Castlevania game gets announced (although not in the way we hoped), and SNK has potentially really cool hardware coming out soon. Finally, we give our 2 cents on the Billy Mitchell / Twin Galaxies situation so far. The drams are for reals!

This week's Stage of History features the best that the PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16 has to offer respectively with Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Air Zonk. Then Robert kicks into action with the surprisingly rare Jackie Chan's Action Kung-Fu in Obscura. Don't forget to pick up our game giveaways for Evil Glitch and Poker Night at the Inventory, then stay with us for another tense game of Random Select. Does Robert sing his way to victory?

With the evolution of first person shooters over the years, it can be easy to forget where they largely came from. One thing for certain is that David Craddock, author of Rocket Jump and countless other video game related books, hasn't forgotten! Join us as we discuss the ins and outs of id Software during the time they released Quake, and changed the FPS landscape forever.

In this discussion, we get into Mr. Craddock's relationship with John Romero, what was happening behind the scenes at id Software, how the new Quake Champions is trying to make what's old new again, and more. Also be sure to check out his book Rocket Jump for the most in-depth information you could ever hope for on id Software and the Quake franchise. You could say it's enough to make you go on a reading spree!

Let's stomp on some koopas, ARGonauts! It's high time for our Mario episode, so we welcome friends of the show Andre Tipton and the "Muscle Mario" himself Nick Castro to discuss Nintendo's plucky plumber. We cover A LOT of Mario games here, including Japanese exclusives and cancelled titles.

Before making our way to the Mushroom Kingdom, we cover news on the latest batch of OG Xbox games coming to the Xbone, and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 getting announced. We also get hyped for a Street Fighter tabletop game that simply looks amazing, and look into the reason why we don't see Contra reissued these days.

The Stage of History looks into the non-jumping Mario game Wrecking Crew, and Luigi's first starring role in Mario is Missing. Robert then continues on the path of edutainment with Donkey Kong Jr. Math in Obscura. Also be sure to grab our game code giveaways, then join in for the rowdiest game of Random Select yet! Which video game character could David be this time?

It's the massive PAX East 2018 episode! Our buddies Andre and Aaron join us to discuss all the games we saw and played on the show floor, and there were indeed plenty. Find out which games to look forward to that range from a Ninja Gaiden-like action platformer to a dungeon crawling dating sim.

On top of all the games discussions, we also have SO MANY interviews! David and Robert hit the floor to speak with all sorts of prominent figures within the gaming industry. Listen to chats with the likes of Supergiant Games composer Darren Korb, YouTubers Jesse Cox, Matt McMuscles, and Rising Superstar Liam, Suda51, 3D Realms VP Frederik Schreiber, and many more!

There will also be our regularly scheduled podcast this week, so stay tuned for that. We will be celebrating the Mario franchise (finally, eh?) with our good buddies Andre and Nick. Until then, some much needed rest is in order.

The past couple of episodes have been leading us up to this point! We welcome special guest Joe Tavano of RetroZap to discuss his favorite console - the Sega Master System! Join us for a look back on the hardware, peripherals, and our favorite (and not so favorite) titles. Our listeners even join in for the Sega lovefest.

Before we dive into Sega goodness, the news this week has us discussing a modern day Easter egg found in a newer Atari Jaguar cartridge, rumors of a brand new Donkey Kong game coming to Nintendo Switch, a Galaga tournament that went all out, and the NES Splatoon game we apparently don't deserve.

The Stage of History kicks off the Master System love with Fantasy Zone and Ninja Gaiden, then we get into the Sonic the Hedgehog title that you likely didn't play in Obscura. Don't forget to nab our latest game code giveaways, then join us for another (short) round of Random Select! Who could Robert be this time?
